HA! You just want to see me in *that* suit, ya wretch!

(Uh, we WERE talkin' about this stomp in the context of a jacuzzi, weren't we???)

HEY! Did I tell ya I got my KOA card in the mail yesterday? LMAO!

Ha!! Mine came yesterday too!! LOL

Well my mini-pike stomp came a few weeks earlier than the jacuzzi stomp.
I'll *never* forget that suit!!! Nor will you, I imagine. Have ya healed yet, or are your legs still about six inches longer?

BTW, thanks for the reminder, I think I'll go open the letter and retrieve my card. 'tis as good as gold ya know?

Hi, you twos...

I see I missed all manner of things here last night, including a chance to hug tokey.

Up again, and I really want one of you to just come here and knock me out for a few weeks, will ya? Running out of pain pills and this is knocking on the door of unbearable now, though I know there's many here who endure much more with grace and patience.

Also, GTE's down so I can't be online, and yesterday was the last day of MSN coverage (they work in cahoots, these ISPs to punish one for switching). So my e-mail isn't working or anything else, I'm here on Pete's PC while the rest of the world is asleep. I developed a [email protected] account however.

To AW RT regulars, I'm sorry! I'm guessing you must feel invaded by space aliens out of the blue...I so rarely see both Pat and Earl in the same place any more these days, I'm leaping on the possibility of tea and sympathy. I realize that's unlikely at 3:00 AM, however, heheh. And I can also imagine that suddenly having a buncha people show up and chat with each other on threads in cryptic terms is disconcerting at best.

Victoria, if you're around, please mail me (at the auctionwatch address for today)? I want to call you, but I hesitate to just do it without knowing for sure if ya feel like talking...

D. (who has *not* received a KOA Kard, so now we know who they really disapproved of, and who is certain that Christopher could run either of ya ragged if given the chance...)

Yeah...Wanna play a round of cribbage? Post the link if ya do, Pete's system has none of my bookmarks. And MSN is *supposed* to be shut off today, so it may be a short round!

Thanks for being such a night owl...I see the spade, so I guess I'll be there shortly.

Hi, Patsy,

Ya just caught me...was surfing around costochondritis chat sites disconsolately. It's an evil thing. I am reading scores of women begging for help, having not slept for days upon days, something to which I am fast gaining the ability to relate. And their doctors keep prescribing Advil. If any one out there knows what to do to minimize the horror of this, please, please POST!

Pete has just called a moratorium on further web browsing however, as he's got it into his head that my symptoms get worse every time I read about 'em. Silly man.

Anyhow, miss you too, caught a brief glimpse of your antics...couldn't sit long enough to capture the depth. I'll call ya in a bit and be regaled if you promise not to make me laugh...

Be good!

D.

Diana, in laymans terms, what do you need help on? You cant sleep? Looking for remedies to assist in sleeping? Sorry for being a dufus, but I would like to help, but I have no idea what that is that you posted.

Take Dr. Smith's advice and get to sleep via a few fingers of scotch if the HMO people won't give ya something stronger. There's no reason to be in pain AND awake for all 24 hours of it every day. (I suppose I COULD come down there and hit ya over the head with a hammer every few hours... )
Myself, I'm being driven insane by noise. Every little bustard in my neighborhood has acquired one of those motorized foot-scooters and whole herds of 'em go whining up and down the street all day. This inspires the household of Hell's Angels up the block to get their Harleys out and roar by in packs of three or four, impressing the heck outta the little kids on the scooters. I, of course, head straight for my gun catalogs and plot which bullets would best kill which engines.
Things are otherwise normal here. Salt-free bland for the senior Smiths; potato chips and a variety of amber libations for me, and no work 'til mid-month...

Thanks for popping in, sweetie. I'll be anxious to know what happens tomorrow.

-Pat

Hello Diana. I believe Costochondritis is caused by inflammation of the rib cartilage and the recommended treatment is an anti-inflammatory pain medication such as aspirin, acetaminophen or ibuprofen or, if necessary, a stronger prescribed anti-inflammatory. It's also beneficial to apply an icepack to the affected area and try to get a lot of rest.

I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks you guys...

{{{{maui}}}}, makes no sense to me either, and blanche, nice to see ya, been too long.

I think they've misdiagnosed. Woke up awhile ago with very localized pain (lower left rib cage area) that was as bad as labor pain or kidney stones, occuring with every breath. The only remedy is sitting straight up with a pillow jammed as tightly as it will go into the side. Even with a nice cocktail of Darvocet and anti-inflammatories, it's only partially subsided after an hour and a half. Based on my web research, this seems a lot more like the initial diagnosis of pleurisy, rather than the less localized costochondritis.

Pete has been "helping me to understand" that such suppositions are not useful here:

Pete: Funny, I can't seem to find your medical degree. Did you pick it up on one of your diagnostic web sites?

Me: (between hysterical yips and hyperventilations): Take me to the emergency room immediately!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pete: Just try to sit still first, I think if you can wait til morning, we can see the real doctors and you'll get better care.

Me: (glaring) Yes, they'll come up with yet a third diagnosis and prescribe more Advil!

Pete: Here's your book, try to distract yourself. They went to school for a long time to learn how to do this. If you can just get a bit more comfortable, you'll be glad you waited. (falling asleep promptly, the great pike)

Me: (taking all of his pillows to aid in the propping up and pillow-squishing maneuver that did in fact afford some relief)People get divorced over stuff like this...

Anyhow, I'm up, if not bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, sitting in my computer chair with pillows jammed in to prevent movement, and waiting very patiently (NOT) for it to become 8:00 when the doctor's office opens. And I aim to camp there until they do a proper diagnosis, rather than poking around a bit, looking puzzled, pulling a new name out of the air and prescribing pills.

Morning, ETP!

Sorry, got caught up elsewhere...

You're a doll, but no, I don't think so this morning, this computer/pillow/chair idea isn't working as well as I thought it would.

I'm gonna opt for a hot bath instead.

Thank you so much for the offer, though...

Argh! Diagnosis o'the day - muscle spasms, potentially a sprained or fractured rib.

Have now added muscle relaxants to my cornucopia of medication, together with a fashionable huge rib wrap belt, and orders to alternate ice and moist heat. Off to do that now...and hope for another bit of sleep with some luck.

Thanks you guys, it's nice to have somewhere to come and vent a bit.

Special note to all of you out there with fibro disorders and similar things that cause chronic musculo-skeletal pain - y'all have my deep admiration and respect for learning how to cope with it, and for being even remotely agreeable while dealing with it day in and day out. Don't know how you do it.

(((Diana)))...on a light note to make you smile:...just how did you sprain or fracture a rib? Getting frisky with Pete, eh? Or, was it turning over on the lounge chair to tan the other side?

Get well, k? Wish I could wave a magic wand and make it better. But....hows about I send the same mental beaming light I sent someone else? So if you feel a tickle on your rib, dont swat too hard...tis just me
