Bits and Bobs,
I just wanted to tell you how nice the Olympics were and what a nice job your Country did on them.
The fireworks were awesome, even on tv last night. I'll bet they were incredible in person! I loved "Waltzing Matilda" too.

They were Maui. I watched the closing singing and dancing while I listed my whole 4 items last night. Got tired of it and went into the other room with the better tv and watched the fireworks. They were something.
Oh and some little girl from Australia sure can sing!

Hi All,
It was quite a show. (Of course I'm biased).
Before the Games there were a lot of doubts that it would ever work but it all came together pretty well. There were just so many people who worked their backsides off to make it happen.
It looks like the world at large seems pretty impressed and that's great. It's a strange feeling here now that it's over. A sort of relief and yet an emptiness that's hard to explain.
Please don't forget that in just over three weeks time we host the Paralympics. The athletes there won't be household names but in many ways they will be the epitomy of guts, courage and dedication.
No matter where they come from give them your support.

Yes, we had a thing on the news the other night about the paralympics. We have a team, basketball, I think, from the University of Illinois coming down.
. But I read in the paper that it was just awesome
