Has anyone noticed that many of the Ebay Detective Club members have a 0 or near that feedback? Do they lose credibility by doing this? I am not discussing anon/non but wouldn't it be better to at least use the same user id that you are known as on other boards?

Reading these remarks it seems that a lot of those members are older sellers in the know so how do they have a feedback of 10 or less and funny user id's.

Same thing on the AW Yahoo thread.

I realize that sellers/buyers need some help and Safeharbor seems to be falling short so I am trying to see all three sides but it makes me wonder and who do they answer to?

I will preface this by also saying if this topic does not belong here feel free to zap it but am truly interested in your opinions.

They seem to have a 2nd ID that is just for their detecting. The reason given that if people know who they are, and get upset, they will mess with their auctions. Rather ironic that they are then out finding all of these sellers second and third ID's.

but it makes me wonder and who do they answer to?
Therein lies the problem. They are accountable to no one.

While I agree that Safeharbor appears ineffectual, I don't think that an uncontrollable, unaccountable group is the answer.

But lack of control and accountability make it so muc fun. From Zorro to the Klan (and before anybody gets his undies in a twist, I'm not comparing the EDA to either), vigilante justice always wears a mask.

Okay, I knew that sellers often have another id, one for selling and one for buying but didn't know that you could have more id's than that.

I am sure that is has already been tried but wondered if the sellers org., can't think of the name of it now, couldn't try to meet with mgt of Ebay for a workable solution. You would think Ebay would want better PR and be glad for a solution.

On the buying side I have to admit it scares me a little that people might ruffle through my buys and I would think a new person reading at that forum would think twice before deciding to buy anything. I have bought from one seller probably 6 or 7 times. Never counted and I don't know the seller nor related. When searching for the item their name usually comes up.
