What is your most valuable possession? One serious, one silly?

Restrictions: You can't say family, we don't possess them (hopefully)

You can't say dogs or cats. We don't possess them, they merely allow us to live with them.

For me?

Serious: my conscience
Silly: 1950 Ideal toy Co. rubber faced teddy bear with no stuffing in one leg.

Ok-- serious would be my sons box. He died 2 yrs ago and it has cards, photos, lock of his hair, etc in it. Pretty serious there. It is the only non living thing I would grab if there were a fire, so that is easy.
Silly-- my brass buddha. go figure-- I just like it. Husband gave it to me 20 yrs ago or so.
:0) Interesting thread. Thanks.

Ashlandtrader I am so sorry. {{{{hug}}}}

Serious would have to be the same as bearmom I think it would be my conscience, next would be my father's gramphone.

Silly would be everyphoto in my house, I can't live without photos' of everyone I love.

OK, here I go;

As far as Serious, I donate my choice to ashlandtrader. I don't have anything to compare to her sons box. I hope it stays safe and brings comfort.

As far as Silly, well, I'll just try to be me.

A serious most valued possesion? I'd have to say my stuffed dog. He's been with me for about 15 years or so, travels with me when I travel. I never leave home without him...

I live in a student residence right now, I'll be finished my Ph.D. in about 6 months. Whenever the fire alarm goes of in the building (which isn't very often and doesn't seem to work when we actually have a grease fire in the kitchen), I always round up my stuffed friends and take them with me when I leave the building. I figure I can replace everything else if I really had to but wouldn't want to lose my friends...

Now some people might think that's silly...

Other than that I'd have to say that I value my health, without my health I don't really have much else I can enjoy...

Serious-Since the "fire" thread, I've been keeping the few things I care about in a fireproof box in a convenient location. It has my grandmothers Bible and some heirloom jewelry in it.

Silly- Mr. Bunny,my grand daughters first stuffed, well loved toy. Of course he's in the box too.

Serious: The box of all of our 8mm camcorder tapes.

Silly: The wooden rocking horse that my grandfather made for me when I was tiny. I think he would have gotten a kick out of my (almost) 2 year old riding it every day now!

I don't view my health as something I posses - especially since a lot of it is gone.
The only material thing I am sentimental about is a real heavy big loop in loop 18kt gold chain that my wife gave me for our 25th anniversary. She has given me other jewelry and watches but that is the one piece I would hate to lose. I wear it every day even if it is usually under my shirt. If I ever got robbed on the street which has not happened in some years I would normally let them take my money and wallet, but if they saw the chain and wanted it they would be dead meat.

OK, I'm not counting intangibles (health, freedom etc.) as possessions, so my most valued possession is my home. Not only is it my largest financial investment, but it's my home base and it's where I feel secure and relaxed (most of the time).

I'm not sure I really have a "silly" one, but I'm pretty attached to a heart pin my mom gave me on my wedding day. I'd call that small rather than silly.

This might sound trivial, however, my two most valued possessions were a 300+ true crime paperback book collection and my vhs tapes that had every episode of the Odd Couple on them.

Ten years ago, when my ex-husband decided he was gay and I refused to lie to my parents about why I was moving out, he decided to be punitive and destroy both collections gleefully.

I'm still not over it. Yeah, I know, it's only stuff but I don't get TV Land here so I can't retape the Odd Couple and to replace the books-- some of which are out of print-- would cost too much. I pick up used ones whenever I see any yard sales but the sad thing is I can't even remember some of the titles anymore.

I would consider the small supply of TC books I have now to be my most prized possession.
Not Kerryann on eBay

Family, we don't posess them? Ya think?

Most valuable possession?

1.My son. Bought and paid for! I own his little behind, until they prove otherwise in a court of law, as I like to remind him occasionally.

2. My fantastic good looks and killer bod. Nevermind, my sense of humor.

cmbtboots...I LOVE your sense of humor AND I understand it!! lol

ashlandtrader..I truly am sorry for you; happened to us also, so I really do know the everyday pain you suffer.

My most valuable? Ok here comes some "corn"...It is the love that my husband shows me every single day! Been married 35 years and the love and respect he gives me is most cherished. (Been a real bumpy ride at times, but I think those times make it smooth riding now).

Silly??
