Yesterday was a special election to fill the 65th District seat in Southern California. My father went to vote last night and found that he had been "removed" from the voter rolls. He was turned away and his vote was not cast. The election worker said that they had several other cases of established voters from the neighborhood "vanishing" from the roles this time.

He has lived in the same place for 25 years and nothing has changed since he voted in November. Why was he purged?

Well, it turns out I live in the same county for the past 8 years and have a Jr. after my name. The county looked at two men with the same name and diferent addresses and came to the conclusion that it was the same person registered twice. (despite different DOB's, addresses, political parties, etc.)

When faced with the choice of which one to purge - Well they looked at the most established and most dilligent voter and purged him. A Republican and not myself (who is registered for a different party but vote how he feels anyway)

Seems in this case, they are pretty quick on the trigger to delete potential Republican votes in this election in a Democratic majority state. To turn away legal voters has raised a huge stink from the last national election as we all well know.

(I have alerted Jesse Jackon and Maxine Waters and would hope that they can begin picketing and press conferences soon, to correct this injustice, against this clear case of voter fraud. (Not holding my breath - grin) )

But in all seriousness. I think that all election officials are having to take hard looks at their roles and proceedures. I suspect that this county is not the only one bulk purging suspect voter registrations.

You all might just double check your own registrations before you go to the polls next time.

nutspec...when the primaries were held the last time, I went to my usual place to vote and was given a Democratic ticket. When I told them I was a registered Republican for at least the last 10 years, they said all their records showed me as a Democrat, even though all previous elections had shown me otherwise.

I had to re-fill out a voter registration card to get it take care of. It might be a good idea to check your registration on a regular basis.
