In the wee hours of the morning I made my very first CD Those of you who know what a technopeasant I am will realize what an accomplishment that really is! I am listening to it now on my stereo.
Meya: *thanks* for the tip on Adaptec's Easy CD Creator--much easier to use than the software that came with my burner. But...not impressed with the label/diamond case design tool that comes with it. Or the applicator. (HP CD-Labeler II)
Does anyone have any recommendations for a label program & applicator? Something with more design capabilities, maybe? And a more substantial applicator...
What brand of blank CDs is BEST?
This first CD is on a fairly inexpensive (20 for $4.99) CD: Imation CD-R 12x/80min/700MB.

My opinion of stick on labels for cd's is don't use them. I know two people with built in cd's in the dashes of their expensive cars that had the labels peel off and gum up the insides of the players. Both had to dismantle the units and have them replaced. Have you ever noticed how warm a cd is when you eject it from a player?
The labels look very nice, but it's not worth ruining your equipment over. Make nice inserts for the cases instead, and use a Sharpie on the cd. Remember that writable cd's aren't as scratch proof as a store bought either.
As far as brand goes, we buy Memorex and Imation. I would stay away from the really cheap generics. The only color we've ever had trouble with is the shiny blue ones, so we don't get those anymore.
