In case any Tolkein fans weren't aware of it, three big-budget films have been in production for some time in New Zealand. For all the info, here are two places to go see what the deal is (Coming this Christmas!)

Filming of the movies ended in December 2000----I'm going to have a hard time with these movies as it will take 3 years from the release of the first til release of the final one.

I'm sad----just spent some time poking around one of those sites. Tom Bombadil won't be in the movie and they have expanded the role of Arwen.---and for some reason they have included Smaug in the movie--I guess for Bilbo's reminisings.
But Smaug??? but no Bombadil???
Oh well---I'll just re-read the books to get the proper perspective---but I will also enjoy the movies for what they are too

The One Ring.net talked about how there was a trailer out for a short while. I found it and you need Real Player to view it:
Looks like it was just added to the web site. At least there will be a fun adventure film this year. I wonder how people who have never read the story before are going to enjoy this? We'll have to see what message it is that the producers are trying to get across when it opens this December 19th.
