Ok, I've had a bunch of people tell me that the pilot of the Chinese fighter jet's name was Wong Way.

Hubby heard it on Rush, and a friend called me after the Network evening news and told me the very same thing.

Amazing...

Wong Wei was the name.

Wei is pronounced the same as our 'way'.

Wong is the last name, in Chinese they write the last name first, opposite to us.

Bob Dornan was commenting on this tonight on MSNBC.

Anyone remember the movie Top Gun?

They would fly within feet of each other and take poleroids and make rude gestures.

A fellow I worked with had served on a carrier and he said as he was working on the flight deck one day word was sent that the CAP flight being launched had been instructed by the Captain to give the Russian trawler shadowing them reason to back off. They were instructed to have hearing protection and secure themselves.
After launch they disappeared over the radar horizon and and came back about 30 feet off the water flat out supersonic wing tip to wing tip. They passed between the two ships like that below the deck level of the lower ship and the pressure was so great
from the shock wave that it actually created a visible cloud of condensed water vapor in the space between the two ships.
He said it actually blew windows out and knocked some radar covers off the trawler.

They do play rough sometimes.

Another day they told a pilot to use his imagination and he flew between the booms of the Russian ship with his arresting hook for landing down and pulled all the antennae lines down.
