HiMint4u You bring up a good point about
living in the country in your younger days. I know in my father's time we were much more of an agricultural society and the cities were just coming really alive. Having lived in a fair sized city, Boston and then living in
the country (we had a small farm, couple of
cows, chickens, hogs and very large garden) My greatest dream was to return to the city.
Now I am living my dream in a rural part of a city...backed up to a wooded sanctuary with enough land for privacy on a dead end
which limits traffic. Just today my husband
surprised a deer (little rascals are hungry
because of all the snow coverage) running
across our lawn, we have had fox, coyotes
racoons, possums (yup this far north) rabbits and a herd of deer....I couldn't ask for a nicer setting...unless of course it were for an ocean view...we are a little too far inland for that.
Anyone else enjoy the country type of life with all the big city amenities only 15 - 25 minutes away?

I am with you Zilvy, we are in a little pocket that is like a village. Yet we have a shopping centre 2 minutes up the road, and a major shopping complex only less than 10 minutes by car further along the road. The big big city is about 30 minutes away.

We live close to a river and have no extra close neighbours to irritate us, our closest neighbour is half a mile away from us. Just the way we like it. The animal life is wonderful, the trees are always full of birds and the possums are out in force at times, you can drop a line in the river any time you want. On a rare occassion we may be lucky enough to spot a koala in one of the trees. Pure Bliss.

I live in a fairly rural area. There is only one city in this County and no cities in the next county.

I live the one City, population about 7000.

But I live on the very edge of the City, can't go any further because of the River.... I get to see all sorts of wildlife (not talking about my neighbors but they would qualify as wildlife). Cats, squirrels, foxes, rabbits, skunks, birds and some things I don't what they are called. Even see a few deer once and awhile.

Hi Barry, I envy you a waterview, there is
something so calming about water. We have friends who live in New Hampshire and they have a bubbling stream coming down the mountain right beside their house. Little water falls cascading over the rocks, we have seen Raccoons fishing in the pools and
there are some small fish which can be seen darting in amoung the rocks. It really is wonderful and peaceful.
