I need some information, that should be a matter of public record in Oregon. I am not sure where I would go to find out about this, but it has to do with a rape and murder in that state in 1972 of a female taxi driver. this is very important to find out if this is fact or fiction. How do I go about finding something like this out. This is not a troll thread, ok, but a serious request, and very important for someone very dear to me. Thanks!

Hi furkidmom! I'm in Tigard. If it was me, there are several places to go:

1) The Oregonian. You can search their database. I don't know if their database is online with their web site or not.

2) The Multmnomah County Library downtown Portland. The LIbrarian will be happy to assit you in looking up everything that you need -- that's their job.

3) The police are very tight about anyone "just walking in" to peruse their records. If you know a cop, try to get the info there.

Hope this helps.

Also, if that fails, hire a P.I. There are so many in this town and many come cheap for that kind of info -- like about $50.

Thanks and noted. I will try the Library and the PI sounds like a good choice also. some really weird stuff going on here. Sheesh!

Here is what I would do:

1) Research the newspapers of that year for that crime. If there was an arrest made you are in luck.

2) Go to the clerk's office in the town where the arrest was made. There may be a record check fee but you will need the defendant's name. From there you should be able to find the case number, disposition, whether it went to a jury or he plead, etc.;

If there was not an arrest, not really sure other than the newspaper. I agree about the police being tight lipped about stuff like that. More than likely any detectives assigned to that case are retired. My experience, at least here in town, is that the detectives may share some information such as victim's name and maybe location. If it is still an open case then they would not share any specific details.

Good Luck!

This is so unreal. Just a bit of background. My friend met this guy on the internet, and before you all groan and moan, I met hubby on the net too, and we have been happily married for going on 3 years. So not all net meetings are bad things. In saying that, she met this guy and I despised him from the second she introduced me to him. Just gave me the creeps. He gave her alot of stall tactics before moving here and when he finally did, I found him to be arrogant, controlling, and just a general plate of puke. She and I drifted apart, as he was not mean to her, but very controlling, and he knew I had his number. I think within the 2nd day I met him, I called him a no good b*stard and told him I was watching him. Needless to say, I was not on his Christmas list of fav people. He up and left her, taking alot of valuables with him, plus cash and generally cleaned her out. She is not a dumb woman, just very trusting. Now we find out from his ex that he did time some time ago for a rape and murder, and I am trying to track the story to make sure it is true. (my friend knew nothing of this!) Would not surprise me one bit. There is more to this story, alot more, many alias names he uses, no taxes filed for alot of years, scams, a real sleezeball. He travels around the country taking advantage of women, and I for one, would like to see his raisens nailed to a stump and then have the pleasure of pushing him over backwards. He left her with a ton of bills, she is in danger of losing her house, and her self esteem is shot. Moral? Ladies and Gentlemen! NEVER give over your financial nor emotional well being to another person completly! NEVER! This piece of flotsom is my mission from here on in. One piece at a time, I will put the puzzle of all of his scams together and this is going to land him in jail.

Oh wow! Best of luck to ya, furkidmom in resolving this!!! Hope the dirtbag gets the book thrown at him (to say the least!)

Amazing how slimeballs like that can burn so many people and get away with it. Well, thanks to you, I have a feeling that his karma is soon to catch up with him...

Someone like this will accumalate a critical mass of people looking to nail his butt. We had a similar dirt ball a few years ago come throuhgh town and after he had moved to Texas we would get calls from people " Hi - I'm looking for Bob but he moved. Can you tell me where to call him?"
I'd just say "Yeah how much does he owe you?" and they would know we were on the same wavelength.
