ki9272649-I meant no offense. Sorry if I seemed to imply anything negative about your post. It was an interesting story.

I am genuinely dishearted at how seemingly out of control our society has gotten.

This story seems to drive that point home.

Please accept my apology for upsetting you.

Moderator you may lock this thread. I just wanted to apologize and that has been done. Thanks! Sulyn

This is just another example of how things get carried away, either by the poster or the postee (is that a word?)

ki9272649 ... you started a very good thread and took it very personally when someone wanted a link to look further into it. I see nothing wrong with that. (if there was no interest, it would not have been asked).

sulyn1950....It is very nice of you to make this apology (although, IMHO, it was not necessary)

See, ki927? Picking apart is what people here do for fun. Don't take it personally. The pope could post a thread here and people would not only pick apart the thread, but then start in on him for being pope. As you can see, someone has already begun to dissect sulyn's apology. That's just the way it goes at AW.

Spaz....I guess I need to apologize to you and that is okay.....I truly was not picking apart anything....I am sorry you feel that way.

I very much meant this as a "good thing" toward ki9272649 & sulyn1950.

edited the third time cause I am still having a difficult time understanding what I said so wrong......but then again, nevermind.

Well, I could have been a bit less cynical...

There is another thread going on about age..and my ID tells it all. I have been around long enough to get a bit of "life experience" under my belt. Still not an expert, but I hopefully have at least the next 1/4 century to work on it.

I have already learned there are two sides to every story and somewhere in the middle is the truth.

I try hard not to be one of those that believes although we all may have a "right" to our opinions, mine are the only ones that count!

I haven't posted in the roundtable but a few times....I suppose it's not to my credit that I have already caused hurt feelings. My intentions were to "come on in and make new friends", not run anyone off.

I wasn't being critical of the picking-apart. Just explaining that's what happens here. You jump in the water, you get wet. You post at RT, your words get put under the microscope. That's how it goes.

It's a little weird when you think about it, the way people here search for any chink or weak spot in a story or statement, the way they demand proof via links ... nobody's taken at their word anymore.

If someone in real life tells a story like ki's tale of the stove shooting, do we demand to see the newspaper that ran the story? Do we subject the person who repeated the story to a cross-examination of the facts? Don't think so. Yet we routinely do it here.

nana, no need to apologize to me, or anyone for that matter.
