Someone posted the other day about owning a "miniature Lab" (mtnmama maybe?)...
Can you please give some info on this pooch? My 93 pounder is gettin just a little too big to be a lap dog anymore (altough HE doesn't think so )
The sweety and I have often discussed how cool a 25-30 pound version of a Lab would be..super loveable, loyal and sweet, yet a wagging tell does not leave bruises on the shins!!!
Thanks!!!

Yep, that would be me Keith.
She weighs 35 lbs and is pure lab otherwise. We got lucky. Someone had left her in the city park at age 6 weeks and the pound picked her up. She was there only 2 days before we adopted her. That was almost 6 years ago.
They're fairly hard to come by. I think you would have to contact some breeders to get one. Even though she's a doll and we love her dearly, we're in the market for a full size lab.

With all the genetic engineering taking place, it is only a matter of time before you could own a 1/8 scale Bengal tiger if you choose to.

Here's a thought: Mtmama you have an undersized lab. That's all. No mini.
Labs originally were bred to work, bigger boned ones more desirable. But now that most dogs don't, breeding for brains and working ability is losing out to breeding for type. I always chagrin at that.
God bless you for adopting!!!!
I hope more people adopt pets rather than buying from back yard breeders and puppy mills. If you are going to buy, do it from a breeder that supports spay and neuter programs, especially of pet-quality dogs, meet the parents and find out disease history.
But, muttlys are good dogs, too!
A dog will give you more love than you will ever give it, just by it's very nature!
Even my horse isn't that cuddly. But he can do canter pirouettes, so who wants cuddly!!!
Best of luck to all, take no offense. I have volunteered at several shelters and in my past worked with a gentleman who bred working hunting dogs.
