Malicious Stupidity

The deterioration of relations with Jeffords began when the White House reneged on an agreement with him to set aside special funds to educate disabled children. Of course Jeffords protested.

Bush then made the mistake of retaliating with leaks to the press, insults, and a threat that the White House would try to hurt Jeffords by opposing a dairy compact that would benefit farmers.

One senior Republican senator described the treatment of Jeffords as malicious stupidity.

I like how the writer of this Op-Ed piece put Bush into the White House, " ... may have lost the electoral vote if the U.S. Supreme Court had not done legal gymnastics to hand him the presidency." HeHeheHeeeee! "legal gymnastics"? More like, illegal misdoings!

Even with this news, I still won't be doing a happy-dance, not just yet. The Democrats have shown their willingness on many an occasion so far this year to side with Republicans in passing Bush's agenda against the American People, his "conservative-jihad". Recall too, that Jeffords wants to vote Republican, except on those issues where the Republicans screw America. So don't expect too much from him. Personally, I'd like to see Liberman go Independant too -- he's too conservative to be on the Democratic party.

That's right, Borillar...it's not as rosy as it may appear. There is
the democrat, Zell Miller...a wannabe Republican who will be a problem.

Hopefully though, George has reconsidered his agenda but I wouldn't count on it.

Borillar...I agree about Mr. Liberman...Unfortunatly, because he is Orthodox, he is pretty much bound to the "right" in many issues. That is the main problem with Israel: The country is under the benevolent wings of the Ultra Orthodox movement, rather than under the Zionist supporters. It is very, VERY bad to mix Ultra ANYTHING, with Politics! which is the tendency of the white house, at the moment...

It certainly didn't help any when some Vermont teachers were invited to the White House for some ceremony and Jefford was not asked to participate.

The nice thing about his switch is the democrats can put dumbyas plans on the backburner. I read in the paper that the demos will now work on raising the minimum wage, prescription drugs for seniors, and a education bill. What a difference a week makes!!

You are right, chum...Although the shift of balance does NOT guarantee any earth-shaking actual changes, it WILL, however, give this administration a run for it's money..., which in turn, brings HOPE to the people.

How do some continually ignore the fact that Bush got more votes than Gore in Florida. Supreme Court or not, Bush would still be President.

You mean got more democrat votes thrown out, or voters disenfranchised than Gore did?

Well, of course he did. Al wouldn't stoop to such things.
