Bush Senior Aides Have Financial Ties To Bush-Backing Energy Giant Accused Of California Price Gouging. (agenda--First California then the country)

As you probably already know, public officials are required to submit to full financial disclosure in part to assure the country that they're on the up and up--not under the influence of any outside money interests, and not engaging in conflicts of interest between their business interests and the good of the people. Good laws you'd think.

But now the disclosures are trickling through, and what do you find across the board through the personal finances of most of the bush administration?

Enron and Kenneth Lay, that's what.

Texas based Enron is now referred to as one of those "out-of-state companies now under investigation."

KatyD provided an excellent link to the history of corrupt corporate
abuses perpetrated by Kenneth Lay.

But what can be done about it? How can Americans continue to turn a deaf ear to what is happening in California and other states as deregulation continues? How do the peasants prevent this from continuing? How do we get Bush and his antics out of office?

Even the local grocery store is blaming the energy crisis on their increase in prices. What used to be a comfortable income with a little extra money to play with has become a weekly penny pinching effort to exist. I cannot afford the price of gasoline. I cannot afford the price of basic food staples and I certainly can't afford the ridiculous increases in power. I can't even figure oout how people manage to own new vehicles considering the cost of them, plus increased insurance fees. We are, literally, living on hot dogs and beans. My salary hasn't gone up the magnitude that the cost of living has in the past year or two.

Where are we headed and how can this be stopped? I'm really frightened.

dogdays, I really feel for your situation, which, I believe, isn't that uncommon nowadays (since Bush was elected. I don't blame you for being scared, as it seems like things are going to be this way, at least for another 3+ years. I wonder too, when is someone going to stop this guy?. Some American's are losing ground, while others get richer and richer. It's the Republican way. Throw some "God" into the plan and everyone will think you have good intentions. This guy & his office are nutcases.....American's are lost with this president.

Edited for smilie I didn't realize I put in.

Yes, that is one thing that really steams me up. After living through the inflationary Carter years, the disasterous dismanteling of our manufacturing economy and shipping it overseas made possible by the Ronald Reagan Era; suffering through high unemployment rates through the Bush, Sr. years, we finally get some relief in the last term of the Clinton Adminstration! We finally get to pay our bills and have a little bit left over to invest, buy toys, go on a real vacation, or do with it as we please -- and then the G--damned Republicans vote the Oil & Gas companies wholesale into our governement and what they do is to suck dry all of our comfort for themselves! Not only that, but they are stealing, or will steal all of the Budget Surplus AND the long-touted in-your-face Tax Cut Refund Checks as well! Bastards!

This display of obscene wealth flung in the face of millions of Americans who are literally hurting to survive is a public disgrace! I am still hoping that the FBI, CIA and other blundering fools agencies, will soon find the solution....Maybe, they can sell bushytail and his entourage to Fidel Castro and have them all extradicted....This country cannot continue this way...We are heading for a disaster.

I just spent 2 hours on the phone with a very dear friend from Florida...bush is insistant on drilling there also...to increase...what? THE MONEY FLOW into his bank account...that's what! Nevermind that endangered species will disappear from Florida because of the drilling...

I am so passionately pizzed off with this guy and his superior attitude! Just as I am totally pizzed off at Israel for their treatment of the Palestinian People!...What is WRONG WITH THE FREAKING WORLD!!!!!!

I am so, so tired of being angry at this, and that, and watching litlle people's income dwindle and dwindle! What is it going to take? This country needs a revolution. I have said it many times, and will die saying it. We have become so tame, we cannot even REACT!

BTW, Ken....If I get arrested this coming Friday, will you and your wife bail me out? I am going to march in San Francisco, with a large group of Jewish people, denouncing the brutality of the Israel against Palestine...I'll wave at ya..

"bush is insistant on drilling there also...to increase...what?"-shosh

SUPPLY.

Read up on the law of supply and demand and you'll see that when the supply goes up, prices come down. What species are you worried about going extinct, and why? This seems to be an accepted phrase, "With all of the drilling, all of the endangered species are sure to go extinct!" Which ones? And why would the drilling lead to their demise?

With all due respect, you can't have it both ways. Prices will go up if you want to stop all of this drilling, because the supply will dissipate.

jlpiece, there's a glut of oil available and at decent prices too. OPEC drops their price and Texas raises theirs? It's tawdry manipulation of you, me, and everyone else in the country.
