Given the state of the world today and given its history that puts us in such a rut, things need to be changed to improve the lot of Humankind. However, the unfortunate thing is that many things just can not be changed without waving a magic wand with omnipotent powers. So here it is then, the question. If you could simply wave a magical wand with omnipotent powers to change just one aspect of today's world, what would it be and why would you do it; that is, what good would it do?

I'll start. If I could wave that magic wand, I would rid Humankind of all venereal and sexually transmitted diseases. I believe that this would take away a lot of sexual restrictions placed upon us by religion, law, and necessity. I still believe in Flower Power and the Sexual Revolution, but realize that it can never happen in a world where diseases of all sorts is transmitted through the act of sex. Therefore, by eliminating all of those diseases, the old excuses as to why consenting adults should not have sex are left to mere morality.

What's yours?

OK, I'll bite.

If I could wave my wand, I would eliminate extra-marital and non-marital sex. There are enough unborn children getting murdered under the excuse of choice, and too many unwanted children getting abused in this world.

Yes Borillar, there are more reasons than just disease. People are by nature careless when it comes to having sex.

I would eliminate child abuse. Sexual, physical, emotional. It's the wellspring for most of the world's violence, IMHO.

Eliminate SELFISHNESS and you don't have the problems with sex inside or outside of marraige that put your pleasure before your partner's welfare and hapiness.

You eliminate the unrestricted greed in business that puts no ceiling on the desire for profit regardless of who is hurt or what the enviroment has to absorb.

You moderate the extremes politicians will go to to retain and extent their powers.

You might even get people with $80,000 cars to use one parking space instead of three.

There is so, so very much wrong with today's world that I cannot even begin to pick one specific item to change! It is too over-whelming trying to make a choice...
I could start with doing away with abuse/brutality to children and animals. Amazing what a little Love and Care could do to the World! And it all starts with small things...

I definitly agree with Spazmodeus, gravid, Shoshana, and cabledogii, as they are probably the beginnings of a more peaceful 'happy' world.

I would get rid of any and all child abuse first and foremost, and then my own personal b*tch: spousal abuse.

But that would go along with gravids wanting to get rid of selfishness

and I love the $80,000 car taking up 3 parking spaces, this is so true! those people irrate the hell outta me!

I would make this the Universal Concensus Of All Hearts.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it:
Love your neighbor as yourself.

You said magic wand, right?

I'd make sex a complicated process that would prevent stupid people from breeding.

Or better yet -- how about making sex an entirely separate process from reproduction?

That would be even more gooder.

Once a scientist suggested offering $1000.00 per IQ point under 100 to men that agreed to a vasectomy. Naturally he was branded a nut case, but was he?

I could have made $22,000.00 (sigh)

Didn't have to think twice about this question.

I would collaborate with Sadie and wave my wand to rid the world of intolerance.

Why and what good it would do is self-explanatory.

Seriously, magic wand aside and anticipation in heart, this can not come quickly enough for me.

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.
I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They
will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true." He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to
drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.

This was my thought, though my previous post now seems lacking. This is my hope and my dream.

LoL Helen,

What was the saying in the novel? "Better a gram than a damn"? I can see both sides of that political argument.

I would make all leaders of all nations wise and beneficent, all scientists true humanitarians, and decree that all wars should be decided by a group of 8 year old boys playing marbles.
