Way back in the dark ages of our Internet access, we used MSN. In the beginning, I had a free account because I hosted in one of the chat rooms. As time went on, the Free accounts changed, but I still maintained one free account, and one $19 per month unlimited account for regular use.
Around 1998-99, we got rid of MSN access totally when we signed up for our Cable Internet. I still had "privledges" for hosting etc, but did not Dial up using MSN, nor did we pay them anything.
Low and behold, I got a bill from Chase VISA today, on a card we don't normally use. It is set up on our checking account for Overdraft Protection, but we don't use it at all for purcheses. What should appear on this bill but a $19.95 charge from MSN billing.
After a quick call to Chase to contest the amount, I then called MSN. They still, after all this time, had my account and credit card number on file. There was a "billing problem" last month which prompted this bill to go through. They are going to remove the charge (no kidding) and purge my information from their system (so the woman said).
My advice to anyone who has ever used MSN currently or in the past...double check any billing they might be tacking on your credit card.

AOL Does The same Thing Years ago when I first started useing the Internet I Used AOL they allowed you to Use transfer from your checking account
When I canceled AOL They continued from time to time to Take a minium month Fee for there service from my chaecking account had to ge down to the bank and file a paper and sign it allowing the bank to deny any tranfers fron the checking account to America online To stop the billing since many calls and hours on the phone with AOL didnt do the trick.
as far as I know some 9 years has past and I still receive mailings from AOL as one of there current perfered cutomers Mind you I only used AOL for less the 90 days back in 1993.
Does anyone wonder about the real Subcriber numbers on some of the large ISP companies if they dont remove people from there record even after 9 or 10 years after they no longer use or pay for the service.
