I'd like to make a toast - here's to Moley! The best damn cat we ever had.

I had to have Moley , my grey cat, euthanized last Thursday. We'd known since he was a kitten that he had a heart arrhythmia. No one that I know has had much luck with medicating his or her cat for this defect so we decided we would let him live unmedicated because he had no symptoms of heart failure. But when I got up last Wednesday, he was terribly weak so I took him to his regular vet and then an emergency veterinary clinic that had a cardiologist. He had severe heart failure after living without symptoms for six years.

I just want to say that he was everything we loved in a cat - intelligent, friendly, hell-raising, wildly affectionate, and handsome. I've had many cats and none could match Moley. He was liked by my friends who always enquired " do you still have that cat?" We always knew which cat they were talking about. On Saturday, a huge bouquet of flowers arrived - from our vet. I've gotten sympathy cards from vets before, but never anything on this scale. That little guy will surely be missed. What a joy it was to have him around for six years. We were very lucky he chose us.

My intention isn't to be maudlin, but to say that sometimes an exceptionally wonderful animal or human may wander or force his way into our lives. I'm glad we were receptive when it happened. Go hug your cats!

saabsister, my condolences. Yes, animals do tend to tether themselves to our hearts, dont they? I have my cat here on my lap, watching me type and butting heads with my arm as I type

Raising my glass to Moley. Here for such a short time, but what an impact.

Saabsister, that was a wonderful tribute you made to your friend.

Moley was a very lucky cat, to get to live with people that thought he was the greatest thing on four paws. All pets should be so fortunate, saabsister...

All of my cats have been friendly - some much more than others, but this cat just gave as much attention and affection as he received. He was part Siamese, so maybe that's why he was so sociable.

My heart goes out to you saabsister. It's hard, isn't it? The thing I find that's so interesting, is that it's an unconditional love you give them and they give back. It's a special relationship that's hard to describe. Here's to Moley!

I lost the "king" of the cats I've owned, about 3 years ago. His personality was unbelievable. He used to visit the neighbours and they all loved him & wanted him to spend the night. I'll never forget him.

Raise a glass to all the dear furrfriends who have passed our way!
Who can say who had the luck?
Them for having such loving homes?
Or us, which I think is the case, for knowing such wondrous souls!

Moley's waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge!

(get me a kleenex!)

They do become a huge part of our lives and in my opinion, some of us are far better people thanks to our pets! Saabsister-- my condolences (sic? hope that was a correct spelling) on the loss of Moley. Sounds like he will be widely missed.

I will go track down Pepsi (my cat) who is probably napping and wake him for a few minutes worth of petting. And then I will be really kind and let him go back to sleep. :0)
Cats are so intelligent! I would sleep all day too if I could get away with it.

Take care-- I know how much your heart is hurting.

Saabsister: I'm so sorry you had to go through that. But what a wonderful cat you had!

Saabsister - Moley was as lucky to have you as you were to have him. A lot of people wouldn't go through the trouble for "just a cat." I'm glad you got the years with him that you did. I have three fur babies at home and they'll all get a little extra attention in honor of Moley.

Thanks, everyone. I'm glad that there are so many people out there willing to open their hearts to animals.

I am off to find LeMeow for a hug in honor of Mobley. Pets are wonderful - they bring out the best in us.

So sorry for your loss. Remember the good times - and I am sure there were many!

Here's to Moley and the years you had together and the fond memories you will always have.
Tigger is calling for me to come to bed...as a last resort he has come back in the office and is laying on his back with one hind foot extended so that he is touching my foot. That way when I get up he'll know and won't be left behind. He gets and extra squeeze tonight, in honor of Moley.

Saabsister, I am saddened by your loss. I will toast to Moley and the wonderful, if short, life he had and I will make sure I give all 7 of our resident kitties an extra hug or 2.
