"A number of organized groups are pooling their rebates to make such gifts. So far, the leading contenders seem to the Children's Defense Fund (as is only appropriate, since Bush swiped their slogan "Leave no child behind" without ever giving them credit) and various environmental groups."

Remember the presidential elections of the 1980's? Who was that one Democratic candidate who quipped a famous quote and didn't give credit for it and the Republicans ranted about, screamed and in cried outrage at the Plagiarism and just wouldn't shut the -EXPLETIVE- about it, going on for weeks and months on talk shows and radio shows and newspapers and magazines about "!!!!!!!HOW TERRIBLE!!!!!" it was? You know, just like how they howled about Clinton smoking Marijuana. Who was it now? Dukuakas [sp?], was it not? Does anyone remember who it was?

So those who get huge tax refunds because of earned income credit and those that pay very little in federal tax should get one of the tax rebates? I know people who clear $6000 a year on EIC when they get their refunds. And for what? For having ten kids they knew they couldn't afford when they had them? I see how that is fair, they get triple the money back that they have paid in.

For once the people getting the refund are the ones that actually paid the taxes in the first place...

So okay ....... I doubt that I'll get any refund at all. But I wish the media would shut their big fat mouths about it. When I first started hearing it on t.v. they were talking like everybody would get some kind of refund - like the 300 bucks for single people and 600 for married. What a bunch of BS!!! I'm about ready to quit watching the news channel all together. Heck, I could just come to AW every day and read the news links

Not to worry, you'll get the letter that the tax saving republicans are sending describing the tax refund even if you get no refund. They're spending something around $40 million to send it to you.
