Over on Bidville, many sellers are donating all proceeds to the Red Cross or other organizations. Please take some time and visit Bidville. We all need to do our part to help the people of New York and Washington, D.C.

Great idea! I'm seeing a lot of people profiting from this tragedy. Why not give back to help a worthy cause?
What are some good, legit organizations that will help the victims? Is there like a widows and children's fund for the fireman and police officers who lost their lives?

I'm seeing some very nice items listed with 100% of the proceeds going to donations. I just placed a bid on a beautiful pair of bookends I'll give as a Christmas gift.
Every positive action has meaning and impact as the USA struggles to relieve the suffering of all those so tragically affected by these events. Get an early start on Christmas shopping this year at BV and help these wonderful Seller's help America.

I don't mean to be cynical, but is there a way to verify that the money paid for these Bidville auctions is going to the intended charity? The last thing we need is people taking advantage of the situation, under the guise of charity, to line their own pockets.

eseller004,
Yes you're being very cynical, but I understand. Whether people will actually donate their proceeds to charity is unknown. However, one thing this tragic week has shown us: they're are a lot of good people in this country who really care.

In regards to the Bidville Cares Sale, it is up to each seller how they do payment. I have looked at many sellers. Some are asking you make payment out to the charity, Some will provide a xerox of payment, some are using paypal, etc. From experience on this site, I know that several of the sellers I have personal experience with, and some by reputation are excellent. I do know that they have also posted on a separate web page the charity organizations for other information (redcross.org, firemens911,Salvation Army, etc)

Hi, as organizer of this Event (suzi_teacups at bidville) I have the easiest way... have them back out their checks and money orders to AMERICAN RED CROSS. That's what I'm doing. I'm donating 100% of my sale AND the postage to Red Cross
Sincerley and thanks folks for all the nice posts! (Cuff, I haven't seen you sign up yet, did I miss it?! WE'D love to have you!! I'm soooo busy I might have missed it, I'll double check---links to sellers on the second page isn't working either, gotta correct that even if it means re-doing the whole page...ish!)
