Google will have a fight on their hands with yahoo, so eBay should be ok for now. The only people who praised froogle were the sellers on 3rd tier sites. Yahoo has a froogle type search in beta as well, so they may try to be first. I am shocked that froogle is passing on this years holiday season.
Google and ebay are crossing swords more and more. It would be easier to buy Google and use it to promote ebay than to watch it turn into something that could severely damage it.
