I am a newbie when it comes to selling at Auctions and have found this thread of great interest. One of the things I wanted to do was to create a new page on my web site which listed all of the payment services and explain how they worked. I thought it would help new sellers and buyers, like me. So I was thinking, lets not only list the different services but lets rate them, just like the buyers and sellers are rated on the auction sites. Plenty of free hosting sites, and I design web sites for a living. It wouldn't take much to do. If I get enough replies to this message I will create a discussion mailing list on "ListBot" and we can hammer out the details. The first big issue would be, is there a legal issue, could we get sued? This is not meant to slam PP, it just seems its a needed service. I think the site would get enough hits where we could charge for banner ads, and this would cover any expenses. So what do you think?

I like it.
Don't KNOW about legal issues, BUT it seems to me people are able to give their opinions and post their experiences about things without legal problems. After all, people are bashing ebay and PayPal all the time and don't seem to be in legal hot water.
I have a nice collection of discussion URLs that might be an interesting addition to such a website.

Ratings services already exist on the web:
Gomez.com and epinions.com
Why not save yourself the time and trouble of trying to keep up with the ever-shifting TOS of PayPal? Lobby Gomez.com to add all of the services to its list.
There already are several reviews of PayPal on Gomez. I haven't checked epinions yet.

Went to epinions site and you would think PP was the best thing since sliced bread. They had 4 or 5 posting all rating it very high. Didn't see anything on gomez. I think it would be a good idea to have gomez add a new section. I will send them an email and see what they say. how would you classify PP? Is it a payment processing company?

Hi CincyOnline-
Payment processing company seems to fit the bill. I'll e-mail Gomez about it too. If you do a search for PayPal on the Gomez site, you'll get some opinions from the message board. Some are none too flattering. You have to use the search at the bottom of the list of categories on the left side of the screen.
