I read the following and thought this would
be one way to recover the new fees that PayPal now charges. I like the idea of a surcharge. Can anyone see problems using this idea?

You allow us to assess a surcharge for auctions that are won, and the winner elects to use Escrow.
You need to offer us, the sellers, the same thing for PayPal.
PayPal now charges us 1.9%, and when we select that we will take paypal as a method of payment, we should be able to enter in a surcharge, just like we can for Escrow. you should allow for a set amount, or a percentage.
And, don't try telling me that it's illegal to assess a paypal surcharge. i've gone around with Andale about this, and they agree with me that it is not illegal, as it is a PayPal surcharge, not a credit card surcharge.
If it was illegal, then paypal wouldn't be able to hit us wiht a surcharge.
