Hello,
Please download the new build of Sales Manager Pro -- version 5.5.2 -- from the website if you are looking for Pro support of 55 characters for subtitle. Here is the link in case you need it. This build provides support for 55 characters for subtitle. If you just want it for the auction title, you only need to synchronize your current version.
Regards,
Sonya

Hi. For those of us who have never used subtitles, could someone take a moment to explain how the title and subtitle features work with both the old and new SmPro versions?
Am I correct that the 55 character limit includes the subtitle? If I sync the old version I could use 55 character titles and perhaps make part of it look like a subtitle by different fonts, spacing, etc. If I update the new version will it provide different sections for entering the title and the subtitle, and will that now have to be uploaded separately as 2 separate fields during batch database uploads? What distinguishes the title and the subtitle in the new version? Thanks!

Hello,
The older version of Pro supported title and subtitle for 45 characters. Synchronizing that version allows for 55 characters but subtitle remains at 45. Downloading the new one will allow support for 55 character subtitles.
Hopefully, this is a better explanation than my first one. If you are still confused, let us know what you want to use 55 characters for -- title or subtitle -- we'll tell you which version to use.

Sonya

Hi Sonya. Thanks, that helps too. My questions were actually simpler than that---
a) If I use a full 45 or 55 Character title (if either current version or upgrade) can I still use a full 45 character subtitle in addition, or is the maximum character total a combined number for both title and subtitle?
b) Where do we insert the subtitles and how does that relate to our database field matching for uploads? I currently upload my titles as part of the batch field matching for auto-population of the sm pro edit screens. I have only seen a field matching option for title, not subtitle. How do I get the info in subtitle format? Is everything after the maximum title character limits automatically bumped into subtitle style and format?
Thanks.

Hello,
The maximum character total is not a combined title and subtitle -- each can now be 55 characters. If you are still using 45 characters then you technically don't have to download the new Pro kit, unless you decide you want to use 55 characters for subtitles.
Regarding question b, are you importing batches into Pro? Please confirm this with me. The subtitle field is on the eBay site information tab of your new listing in Pro. If you were to type a title longer than 55 characters, it will stop once you reach the 55th character. It doesn't move over as a subtitle.

Sonya

Sonja.....
You cannot list a 55 character title in the Inventory part of SMPro. You can list it in a batch but not in Inventory.
Please advise when this will be fixed.
Thanks

Sorry for the mis-spell on your name.
I would appreciate an answer on this though.
Thanks

Okay, I went to the link and downloaded SMPro. The name of the file is the same as the first time I downloaded it a few months ago. Is this the upgraded version?
Also, very important question. Before I install this, will all my data stay safe? It's not going to overwrite all my inventory and batches so they are gone the next time I open SMPro is it?
I'm waiting on an answer before I install.
TIA

Nikki.........
Good Question.
Is this the "smart update"?

Hello,
You do not need to worry about saving your batches, images and inventory as these will be retained. However, you may want to copy the batches and images folders, and the inv.dat file located in the "data" folder, to a separate location on your hard drive if it will make you more comfortable with this process.
Thanks,
-Radu

Back to Sonya at her request--yes I upload from my access database into sm pro using the batch importer, then validate each item before sync'ing and saving the batch. Any special extra needs/problems that causes? Sorry I somehow missed the subtitle field. Can I autopopulate that like the title if I add the field to my database for it because the new version now will have a new field to match for it?
The inventory issues mentioned above by another poster won't affect my stuff. Since I sell one of a kind items only, I don't use any of the Vendio inventory features online or offline. It is much much easier to just control all my inventory needs on my own computer in my own database. Highlight-copy-paste-cut, click-paste. Done.
Thanks for clarifying the character numbers--great news! Sorry I had to ask twice.
Thanks again!

For Sonya--I posted the info you requested. What special things do I need to know if I upload batches into pro? Thanks.

Hello,
Unfortunately there is no field match for subtitle. For the moment, you will need to edit each item that you import, and on the eBay Site Information tab, add in your subtitle. I will log a suggestion with product development to include this as a field.

Sonya

Okay. Pease do that--it is an obvious software design flaw. Thanks.
