Hi,

Just to clarify---

A purchase is defined as a non-Pin based purchase, such as swiping the card and signing a receipt.

A pin-based transaction is not a purchase and would qualify for the 1.5% back under PayPal Preferred.

I am confused now. Should this not read A pin-based transaction is not a purchase and would not qualify for the 1.5% back under PayPal Preferred.

I did not think Cash Advances qualified. Let me know please.

Thank You

Jim

It is impossible to get a 'Cash Advance' with a PayPal debit card, for the simple reason it is a debit card.

I make a lot of purchases with my PayPal card, when the clerk at the USPS counter ask if it is debit or credit I tell them credit and they process it as such and I have to sign the ticket. With those purchases I get the 1.5% cashback bonus. At checkout counters when I swipe my card I press the credit button, again I get 1.5% cashback bonus. The only times I use the debit card as a debit card where I enter my PIN is if I want to get some pocket cash, this doesn't cost me anything, I can get up to $100 back from Walmart and up to $50.00 back from the USPS if I've used it as a debit card.

Here's a tip you might want to try keep under your hat incase of an emergency. Did you know you can get up to $998.50 from your PayPal account to your local bank in a matter of minutes? If time is critical to get money from your PayPal account to your local bank you can use your debit card to purchase USPS money orders and walk over to the bank and deposit them. You could purchase one money order for $699.25 and another for $299.25 from the USPS via your PayPal debit card (limit on debit card purchases are $1,000.00 a day).

USPS Money Orders must be purchased using a PIN so they wouldn't qualify for the 1.5% discount.

I will correct that. Cash Withdrawals.

So I was correct in that Damon made a small typo, you do not get the 1.5%

Hi,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and I apologize if any confusion was caused by the typo.

The easiest way to look at this is:

No pin=purchase (eligible for the cash back provided the user is PayPal Preferred)

Pin=not eligible

Sorry for the typo.
