I am a buyer but mostly a seller on ebay and I want to be able to accept payments from customers using paypal as I've had many requests. However on going to the site I find that you only accept Visa and Mastercard. We have American Express as our credit card, ebay accept it fine so why can I not use it to register with Paypal? AMEX is supposed to be accepted all over the world, what gives?

Hi louissa,
Thank you for the inquiry.
PayPal does not accept American Express (we are, however, looking at the option).
However, you can sign up for an account and make payments from your bank account and you can also withdraw payments to your bank account (as long as you are a verified member).
Please feel free to ask me any additional questions.

I'm in Canada, can I still sign up with my bank account? I was under the impression I had to use a credit card or at least use one to sign up. Also how would I become a verified member, I know I would pay a $15 fee with ebay to become a verified member with them, do you mean do that? Sorry if I sound a bit thick, but this is really new to me.

Does it have to be with any particular banks or any particular accounts? I'd rather use a savings account than a main joint account for security reasons.
I still am not sure what you mean by being verified, could you confirm that for me also.
Thanks.

Hi,
I would check with the financial institution to see if it makes a difference (savings/checking), as they are the ones that accept the transfer or rejects it. Many international banks are also very picky about names matching the transfer from and to. They would be the best source of information on what you need to have in order to accept electronic transfers. However, providing us with financial information is much safer than sending a check to someone and your information is not transmitted during a transaction. We will not access your bank account without your permission.
Verified members apply to domestic US users only at this time.We do not charge for this and you may be referencing another site.

I asked about the verification aspect as you mentioned it in one of your postings to me.
However, you can sign up for an account and make payments from your bank account and you can also withdraw payments to your bank account (as long as you are a verified member).

I don't want to use Paypal to send money, I want to use it to recieve money from people that buy my items on ebay.

Hi,
That is understood, but I think we are confusing domestic versus Internation features. International users can't add funds from a bank account and the only function available would be to withdraw.
Adding funds from a bank account is only available to domestic (US) users.
Hope that helps.

LOL
Now I'm totally confused.
Lets start again.
I register my bank account. People buy something I am selling on ebay and want to use Paypal to pay me. If I registered with my bank account and it is in Canada can the funds then be put into my bank account in Canada so that I can withdraw them?

Hi,
That is correct. You can withdraw it to a Canadian bank account. The fee information is on the web site on how this is done.
