I have canceled this service after receiving my email this morning. Not only are these winning bidder notification forms confusing and irritating people, they are an embarrasment to me as a business person.
Yesterday, three notices went to customers AFTER they had paid and been notified of the item being sent. The best one is this response:

Dear [email protected]:

I'm not quite sure what this message is about. I already received a
winning notice from you on Friday 04/20, made payment via PayPal on
Saturday 04/21, received a shipping notice from you also on Saturday
04/21, and received the xxxxxxxxxx yesterday 04/24. I was just about
to send you a note to let you know that it arrived safely and that
I have left positive feedback for you morning.

If this message indicates that I have bid on a second xxxxxx, then
there has been a mistake somewhere as I only bid on the one which I
have now received.

Let me know if there remains any confusion and I will strive to help
clear things up. Thanks!

Hi,

I am running into this concern on the boards, but my primary question would be:

1. How would the notification know that the user had been in touch and made payment? In other words, the notification is an EOA notice that takes place regardless of the correspondence between the users that takes place in-between.

This is simply a notification to advise your users that the auction has ended and that PayPal can be used as a payment method. It does not track if the payment has been made in-between (which would not be technically possible). Many users that utilize PayPal send payment immediately after the auction's end (regardless of any notifications they get).

Paypaldamon,

You are 100% correct in your statement. I do not expect anyone other than the buyer and myself that payment has been arranged and or made prior to the notification being sent.

However, you should read again the customers concern over receiving what appears to be ME asking that they submit payment thru PayPal.
The main point here is that the notification was sent some four days later and AFTER the customer had RECEIVED their item.

Damon,

This doesn't strike you as incompetent?

The customer RECEIVED the email just as he was about to post feedback for the completed transaction.

Well......

Hi jalleniii,

Thanks for the post. Some users, but not all, are randomly impacted by late notifications and our engineering department is working to find these items and correct them.

Sorry for not noticing the date on the notification. I tend to fly through several hundred posts per day and I do, at times, make a mistake.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Not a problem. Just wanted you to understand it from my perspective. Thanks for your reply; although this part of my PayPal service will be no more. (It had increased my PayPal users by close to 50%)

Hi,

Thanks. This is a relatively new feature and we are constanly modifying it to make sure it is as effective as possible.

Wow---50%?
