Hi Everyone--
This is an update for the AuctionWatch referral issue that has caused a great deal of concern on the message boards. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and for all the confusion that this has generated. We are closely working with PayPal to identify the sellers that were impacted by the link in our Winning Bidder Notification service.
The following is going to take place to correct the issue:
1.PayPal is running a database check to identify the referrals awarded through links in AuctionWatch Winning Bidder Notifications.
2.PayPal will then attempt to match the referral to the proper seller by checking the first transaction paid out of the buyer's account, which should give a greater probability of matching the buyer to the seller.
3. Auctionwatch will also be checking the WBN notices to see if we can match the buyer to the specific seller. This should give the greatest amount of accuracy in rewarding the referral bonuses to the correct party.
AuctionWatch will then reimburse the impacted sellers for the referrals that were awarded. This process will take a few weeks to get it corrected, but we will be working diligently on finishing this as quickly as possible. All early indications are that not many users were impacted by this error and we apologize for any duress this may have caused you.
Many thanks for your patience.
