I have kept my personal account at paypal to accomodate all the fast pay junkies out there. Is there any "seller protection" for a seller with a personal account? Will delivery confirmation protect me in the event of a charge back attempt? Will paypal just automatically take the $ from my account?

Hi walhalla,
Seller Protection applies to members that are Verifed, Premier/Business accounts. All charge back issues do require notification before action is taken.

OK, so then a personal account offers no charge back protection? Anyone funding a payment to a personal account with a credit card can request a charge back at any time? What is the process for personal account charge backs?
Thanks,
dendude
Charge back received.
Customer notified.
If customer does not fit the criteria, the customer is then advised of the liability for the charge backs. Recovery for the liability could include:
1. Charging the debit card/credit card on file.
2. The negative balance in the account (upon removal) will go down with payments into the account.
3. Other means (customer sends check, adds funds from their bank account, etc).
(Your bank account will not be accessed for charge back liability)
Charge back liability is extended to Verified accounts, that are either Business/Premier, because:
1. They are paying fees
2. They have identified themselves in the system to a larger degree than an unverified user.
I highly recommend participating in the Seller Protection Program---it can save a lot of headaches and money.

I guess the only other choice would be to not accept paypal payments. I know paypal is not that interested in personal accounts but it sure would be nice if paypal gave us underlings some guidelines.
