I tried to use my PayPal debit card for a small (under $11) purchase this evening, and it was declined. There's been more than that amount in my account for several days. Anyone know what's up?
FYI- I have used my debit card several times before with no problems.

I have had the same problem. I used it at walmart typed in my pin and everything worked. A few days later I tried it at the post office, typed in my pin and didn't work, so I told them to run it through as a "credit card" and it worked. I then tried it again at walmart and it didn't go through. So it seems like sometimes when i type in my pin it doesn't work.

I don't profess to be an expert but I've had this experience with a variety of cards and not always consistently. Paypal Credit transactions go through the MasterCard network and I think Debit transactions go through the Maestro and Cirrus atm networks. If the vendor were having trouble connecting to one of them then your transaction wouldn't process. This wouldn't be something that PayPal could control.

This is a bit off topic but pertinent, I think. I checked my PayPal account and found that a couple of times when I used it at the post office I didn't get the 1.5% cashback. Finally figured out what happened. At the post office I said it was a debit card and they had me enter the pin number. At other places they just took it like a Mastercard. So, the moral of the story is... Don't use it as a debit card. Use it as a Mastercard. Then you'll get your 1.5%. OK, that's all! Hope everyone has many gloriously good days. Lucy

Could you have gone over your daily limit?
The other day, I withdrew $400 from the ATM, and then tried to use the card later that night. It was declined even though funds were in the account. Sure enough, next morning when I tried to pay for the same item again, it cleared without a problem. Could be due to your daily limit?
