what is the fax number for merchant to fax request to remove a pending charge??
this is probably a small issue ,but i thought i will relate it as it concerns the use of paypal debit card.
we have a new restaurant which features buffet and i have been there 5 times and each time i will leave a tip 25 % of the price of the meal(it is not a large sum of money as the buffet is reasonably priced).
a few days ago i went there and when i went up to the cashier to pay for the meal with my paypal debit card, the waitress(she may remember me from past visits and is ready to get off her shift) put my card through and claimed it did not work.
what she did was without asking for my permission, she just add the tip to the total bill.
then she claimed it did not work!! ( no paper slip was produced)
then the cashier came along and tried again, she entered the cost of the meal only (no tip) and it did not work.so i paid cash and left(i have just enough cash for the meal and left no tip).
when i came home and lookup my paypal account, the first charge of meal plus tip was there as a pending charge.
i printed the charge and returned to the restaurant and showed it to the cashier and the owner, well they have no idea what i am talking about as they have no trace of that charge.
but the charge the cashier put through was later printed and she reversed the charge as i have paid her cash, they have paper copies.
now i know there is a way to turn off the printing mechanism on the charge machine so the charge goes thru and customer does not receive a receipt.
is this legal??should the waitress be allowed to operate the machine and add tips without customer authorisation??and why is there no audit trail on their end??

Hi,

In order to remove the duplicate hold, we need a fax from the merchant
authorizing us to remove the hold. They will need to include the amount of
the charge, your name, and PayPal card number. It will need to be faxed on
their letterhead to 1-402-935-2235. Otherwise, if the transaction does not
complete, the funds will be credited back on the 31st day.

...Also send a certified copy of your birth certificate, your marriage license, your high school diploma, and get yourself fingerprinted, just to be on the safe side. Be prepared to verify with us your grandfather's aunt's maiden name, your great-grandmother's date of birth, your eldest sibling's SS#, and your dog's license tag#. If your dog does not have a license, we will be unable to assist you at this time. Thanks for the pay, pal!
