Looks like I posted this message on the wrong board so I am reposting here. Sorry about that.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Hi Damon,
My account was restriced over one week ago. There was no fraud/refunds/complaints and I have no idea what legit reason PayPal could have for freezing my money.
One week ago I faxed in all the info that was requested and even gave extra documents to prove my name and address, etc.
The problem seems to be that your customer service robots keep telling me that I need to add and confirm a bank account.
Well here is PROOF that I already have a bank account registered and confirmed. Below is the exact text from a notice from PayPal.
Read it and see how bullet 1 and 2 completely contradict each other!!
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
1. Add and Confirm a Bank Account
2. After you have completed the step above, fax a copy of your driver's license or valid ID, a copy of a current bank account statement (for the registered bank account with the last four digits (snip)) or a current credit card statement (for the registered credit card with the last four digits (snip)), and a copy of a utility or phone bill with the fax cover sheet that is provided here. As always, any personally identifying information that you submit to PayPal will remain secure and will never be transmitted to any third party.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Damon,
If you do not want to unrestrict the account then please give the money back to the people who paid my account.
Then I can have them pay me without using PayPal.
This mess is causing me many problems. I am a student and $7,000 is a lot of money to me right now.

Yes, thank you for your super fast response. You answered me within minutes every time!
A person did try to call me but I was not at home. And then someone emailed be and told me that my account was related to another account that had a negative balance. This is the first account I have ever opened so he must be talking about one of my relatives accounts.
If someone who I am related to owes PayPal money then take it up with them. Do not come after me for money that some other person owes PayPal. I am not sure if it is my ex-husband or my brother who you are referring to but either way the account was not mine.
They also said that they are going to hold on to 5% of the funds for a reserve. Well, if you cannot release all the funds then please refund the people who used credit cards and then they can pay me by check.
If I have to worry about what my exhusband and/or brother do with PayPal then I will not be doing any business with PayPal in the future. Are you going to come after me every time that someone I know owes you money?
So Damon, please put me back in touch with a live person.

Uh Oh. There were two cases I remember (and probably many others) where their account was restricted because of a negative balance in another account.
In one of the cases it was a former roomate who the user who had his account restricted hadn't had contact with in months and knows nothing about. Do you think that this person, who doesn't owe a penny to PayPal, should pay PayPal because of some OTHER user's negative balance?
What really makes the situation even wierder is that PayPal restricted the entire account, which had thousands of dollars in it, when the negative balance in the other account was only around 500 dollars (this is what I remember, the figures might not be completely correct since it was awhile ago). Why didn't PayPal just restrict 500 dollars of the innocent user's money in the account with thousands in it? It's like a bank saying that you owe money, and we want you give us the money even though we could just take it out of your account which has thousands in it. Except in this case, the user doesn't owe PayPal money.
I hope your case gets resolved, and doesn't turn out like others similar to it.

it sounds like paypal software is looking for trails ,someone who has a neg balance, what other pc has he used to access his paypal account??
does your ex hubby or brother even use your pc ??

something is very wrong with paypal business model-if his customers file chargebacks with their cc company, paypal will lose as the author has not shipped and paypal is the one who has to face these cc issuers.
