I have had a few deadbeat bidders in my time, more on Ebay than Yahoo. However, I am unsure whether or not to neg this bidder (perhaps when I stop crying -NOT- over her sad tale of woe) who won a 99 cent auction at 99 cents in November. Is this worth the retaliation neg that surely will result? The facts: On Nov. 17 she won an auction of mine; I requested her zip code to determine the shipping cost with Priority mail. She responded immediately and I then sent her the total with shipping ( I do not charge handling...just actual shipping). After a month of hearing nothing from her I received an email asking where her items was and I responded that I had never received payment. She then said " I work for a number of charities this time of year and am so busy I won't be able to send you the money until after Christmas". Today, Christmas Day, I receive this email, entitled "Why I have not paid for the nappy dish"..."On 12/16/00, my husband and I took our two small children on a vintage train ride at a local railroad museum. My husband was carrying our 2 year old off the train, while I carried our 7 WEEK old baby. My husband slipped on a step, flipped in midair, broke 6 ribs, damaged his left kidney, and destroyed his pancreas. In the first 14 months following the accident, he had 10 surgeries to repair the damage. He went from a vital 240# former college All-American, to a weak, gaunt man who weighs barely 160# and looks old enough to be my grandfather. He is now on permanent Social Security Disability.

Earlier this month, he suffered a "setback" caused by a severe drug reaction. I have been so busy the past two weeks that I have let lots of things slide, including paying for a couple of auctions. I don't really want a "NEG" with Yahoo auctions, but if that is what you need to do, I understand.

I try not to let my personal problems affect any business transactions that I have, but the past 6-8 weeks have been one thing after another."

Ok, she had time to bid on the item, respond to the emails, etc. She had time to work for her many "charities". Ok, Ok, I know I will never receive this money...do I write back to her and explain that her bid is a contract despite all the woes of the past two years, or just neg her and forget it? Just leave the negative. It doesn't really matter on Yahoo as there is no ebay-like 3 NPBs and you're out rule. I have seen many bidders on Yahoo have feedback ratings like a ( 77 ) but it is 99 positives and 22 negatives. When I sold on Yahoo I had many more deadbeats then I ever did on ebay.
