I have won items from 4 Yahoo sellers this weekend and of the 4, only 1 accepts PayPal. What is it with these people?

I'm assuming the other 3 out of 4 at least took Paydirect? For Yahoo buyers & sellers, it's quite easy to use.

If it's check & money order only, then you probably picked some newbie sellers. Which might explain why you are getting such bargains!

Replay - one did end up agreeing to PayPal, the other two are MO only people. I'm going to get one of them to change their tune though, they have a bunch of stuff I want and the money order game is going to get old real quick.

Yahoo is a great place to get cheap goods, but the last FLD was not as good like the one before. Hopefully they will have another this month. Stuff on ebay is dirt cheap as well.

I for one do accept paypal, but if you look at the big site, you will find just as many that do not accept PayPal either. Personally, I would rather only accept Paydirect as it is a much nicer system than PayPal, but just like ebay, they have made a monopoly of the system.

If I were a seller that didn't accept PayPal, you as a bidder when you bid agree to the terms of the seller. If PayPal is not an option and you bid, then you are required to pay with what they accept. Do you go to Kmart or Walmart and demand that they accept PayPal? This thread is really in the wrong chat room anyway. It is really a PayPal issue.

On the last FLD I had 14 successful auctions and only 1 deadbeat. Only 2 were paid with PayDirect and 3 or 4 with PayPal and the rest were paper payments. If only listed 2 items since then and will only list on FLDs from now on.

Stone - it's about Yahoo sellers it's on topic and if you are saying that the percentage of sellers that do not take PayPal on Yahoo is equal to that of the ones on ebay then you are simply extending your string of incredibly incorrect answers. I buy all the time on ebay - 90% of the sellers I deal with take PayPal. In the catagory I buy from on Yahoo - maybe 20% of the sellers there do.

BTW - I don't expect someone who states that they do not take PayPal to do it just because it is easier for me however ..... Say a seller has a 10% sell thru rate, bidder comes along that is willing to increase that rate to about 50% spending over $2000 a month and asks only that the seller accept PayPal because it is easier and faster for the buyer, with no expense to seller, wouldn't a smart seller set up a PayPal account?

BTW - Seller in question was not smart. but their main competitor was

with no expense to seller

Are you kidding me. Talk about not having your facts straight. Last I checked, it costs me roughly 3% to accept PayPal. And before you get lambasted for assuming fact, you better take a good look at a wide range of sellers and what they accept as payment. My guess is you looked at a select few and ignored the diverse population. Although after re-reading your last post, you do state that you didn't take a diverse look.

Stone - once again you operate without all the facts. Seller could set up a person account as opposed to a business account since all of my payments would be balance transfers. Personal accounts recieving balance transfers are not subjected to fees.

As for the diverse look? I purchase collectibles, electronics, clothing and jewelry from ebay for myself and gifts. In the past 4 months I have purchased well in excess of $5000 worth of items. I have had to send MO's on all of TWO of purchases for a total of $350.

There are three catagories on Yahoo I have purchased from, electronics, jewelry, accessories. Looking back on my records in the past 3 months I have purchased from 8 sellers - 4 in the past week. I have had to purchase money orders for all but 3 of those sellers.

I realise that you love to champion Yahoo but there are two simple facts...
1) the persentage of sellers that accept PayPal is far from equal to those on eBay.
2) A higher persentage of items close without bids and most of those that do close for a lower final value than ebay.

You can champion the site all you want, and you personally may do very well on it however you are not the rule.

If I were to use my personal experiences only I could say that iOffer and eBay are equally effective. I had identical items at identical prices listed on both ebay and iOffer this weekend. I sold two on ebay and two on iOffer. Does this mean that they are equally effective sites?

Fenix03,

You lost all credibility once you stated ioffer.

It has become very clear you are into make believe and assumptions within your own world. Maybe you and bids could join your own support group.

The fact that you, of all people, could use the word "credibility" is the most laughable part of this exchange.
