Just a question that occurred to me, which probably is a much more complex question than it immediately appears.

1) If, completely out of the blue, eBay says they are going to make their store listings (with gallery) FREE, instead of the current $0.03, would you rather list on eBay Stores or Yahoo with their free listings?

2) Using the same logic behind your decistion in #1 above, would you prefer to pay $0.03 an item (the current actual pricing) or the free Yahoo listings?

A) From my own results, I'd rather pay the three cents to eBay than tie things up at Yahoo. It's still early in my trials, but it looks like it's going to be a while before Yahoo makes a comeback.
B) However, I'd like to support Yahoo, just to help build a reasonably viable secondary marketplace.

It's going to take more time and experimenting with Yahoo for me to figure out if it's viab;e. What used to work there two years ago, isn't working now. What currently works on eBay isn't working on Yahoo now.

Recalling the old Dion Sanders commercials, my answer would be:

BOTH!

I'm with gawooley,

List them at both places. Then if/when it sells, simply cancel the listing at the other place. Having you item(s) in more than one place simply gives it more exposure and a better chance of selling.

One flaw in your thought process though. It is not 3 cents to list. You are forgetting about ebay's monthly store fee.

I used to list products on Yahoo way back when they had free listings a number of years back. We sat and waited and waited and waited for someone to just come by and click on the auction. It was hard to find buyers. Then they started charging listing fees - things perked up and more buyers came....and so did the bad guys. My auction got hacked into and someone literally just took it over along with my email program. If you need help on Yahoo, you aren't going to get it...that's what I found out. Buyers on Yahoo don't like spending very big bucks like they do on eBay. The only time I really sold anything on Yahoo was when I went on the featured page which costs you more money...so...you might as well stay with eBay afterall.

My advice - put your stuff on eBay. IF you go over to Yahoo - change your password about every day!

List at Yahoo, if you have your items in a .csv file (comma separated value)

If eBay stores have free listing fees (yeah right), 1) you would still have to pay the monthly fee for items that have very little visability 2) you would have to go through all the work to list the items 3) your items would sit in inventory, when they should be selling at auction 4) there would be so many people listing massive amount of junk items that no one would really care to search eBay stores. In my opinion, stores are only worth it only if you already have an established customer base, or a means to drive buyers to your store (established website, etc).
