I asked this on the Customer Manager board, but no one seems to go there, LOL! So, I'm asking here:

With Paypal IPN do I still have change my email addy at Paypal and Ebay in order for Customer Manager to work correctly?

Right now, I am NOT using my vendio.com email addy at paypal or ebay. However, Paypal IPN does seem to be "pulling" the customer payment info into sales manager IE post-sales (payment rec'd, name and addy info is all there).

It is not, however, pulling it into the customer info in Customer Manager.

I've read all the FAQs, etc. and they are quite conflicting. Some talke about "mailstep". Some say you must use a vendio addy or paypal info won't come through (that isn't true because my info came through and I am using my verizon addy)

So, specifically HOW should I set things up? Is there any way to get the full names and addresses of customers, along with history of items purchased, pulled into Customer Manager as well as Sales Manager IE?

Do I do the following:

Change email addy at ebay to vendio.com addy?

Change Paypal PRIMARY email addy to vendio.com addy? Or just ADD vendio.com addy to paypal account?

Change Vendio PRIMARY email addy to vendio.com email addy (some documentation says WARNING will result in circular action and you won't get notices)?

Change Paypal payment email address in all my listings from my verizon email addy to the vendio.com email addy?

I am very confused. Thanks!

Lori

Hello,

You can have any email address you like, provided you have the IPN activated and the email address you are using for Paypal is stored in Vendio. It's not necessary to use your Vendio.com address, but it certainly does help if you have everything handled in one area. It is up to you.

At the moment PayPal is experiencing some problems with the notifications -- there is an announcement on the eBay system announcement board here. All the problems you are experiencing right now seem to be related to this issue.

Thanks Sonya,

The Paypal info is coming in just fine into Sales Manager IE.

It isn't coming into my Customer Manager. Is Customer Manager supposed to pull the Customer name and addy from the Paypal notification?

Can it do that if my paypal addy isn't the vendio one? (I have all my verizon email forwarded to the vendio one, so the paypal notices do get forwarded to the vendio email addy)

What exactly is customer manager supposed to do? And can it do it all without me using it as my main email addy?

Thanks!

Lori

Hello,

I'm sorry, I didn't address your whole question. Customer Manager does not pull in the address information. You can set it so that it pulls the email address of the winning bidder in, but that's the only information we are able to grab at that time.

When you have the address in, you can update the customer file with their address and other pertinent information, then create mailing lists that you can use to inform past customers of new items and so forth in the future. If you have any other questions about CM please let us know.

Thanks Sonya,

I do think I want to use Customer Manager so all info is contained in one place (and "conversations" are kept together according to transaction. CM does that right?)

If so, how do I set it up? Is this correct:

Change email addy at ebay to vendio addy.
Change paypal primary email addy to vendio addy.
Change paypal payment email addy in listings to Vendio addy.
Change PRIMARY email addy in Vendio to vendio addy.

OR do I keep my primary email addy at vendio my verizon email addy?

And do I keep my primary Paypal email addy my verizon addy and just ADD the vendio addy to my paypal account.

Thanks!

Lori

Hello Lori,

When in the Customer Manager, you can select to pull up all previous email from that email address while still viewing the current.

Everyone uses the Customer Manager differently, but typically you would switch your eBay and PayPal email address to the Vendio address.
You could leave your Vendio account email address as your primary, and it is used only to communicate with us for billing specific issues, all others are automatically done via your Vendio address already.

Then update your stored eBay and PayPal addresses here in Vendio and your ready to start using the program to manage your email.

question about the above. First, I don't have my Vendio address as my primary. My verizon addy is my primary. Is that what you meant?

Secondly, it says "all others are automatically done via your Vendio address already".

I'm confused. My Vendio email addy shows ZERO sent messages. Does that mean that all my payment rec'd emails and shipping notification emails, etc. are NOT being sent? If they are being sent, what address is sending them? Verizon is not and it looks like Vendio is not either.

Hello,

Your Customer Manager will only store the email you send personally from within, it does not track the email that is sent as part of the Post Sale Management process. The customer manager is a tool separate from post sale.

The address that shows as being sent from in post sale is your primary on file here in Vendio, but you will not find them in your sent folders as you are not actually sending these yourself.

Christopher
