 BRIEF:

During WW2 The US ,British and other military forces utilised high-speed offshore rescue boats, similar in size and performance to Motor Torpedo Boats, to rescue pilots and aircrews of crashed aircraft. Throuought world War II these rescue boats, armed with light anti-aircraft guns for self-defense, saw extensive services with the British Royal Air Force and United States Army Air Forces and other Air Sea Rescue operatives. This manual is typical publication showing a fine example of the era's invaluable rescue boats.

      During the Second World War would The Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) established two intelligence schools that trained hundreds of Intel officers for the Navy. Its Special Activities Branch offered critical intelligence on German U-boat technology, operations, and tactics, which proved decisive in the Battle of the Atlantic. ONI supplied U.S. forces with ship and aircraft recognition manuals, provided photographic specialists for identifying enemy vessels, assisted in naval mission planning, and was responsible for the translation, evaluation, and dissemination of intercepted Japanese communications.
