HISTORIC COLD WAR PERIOD RAF MAP PLATES  1 Pair Berlin Air Corridor area ref 6B/2926  This is an actual RAF Store fighter pilot map SOLID MOUNT HARD PLATE MAPS - SEALED WITH INSPECTORS STAMPS - THOMAS HARRINGTON LTD.  Jet Fighter Pilot's Interception map plates STORES REF-6B/2811 UNUSED BUT OPENED STOCK. opened only for these photographs   maps have air ministry prefixes X 1 map set pair of 2 plates (no plotter supplied) AN EXTREMELY RARE FIND FOR THE PILOTS MAP PLOTTER (INTERCEPTION MARK 1) HARD PLATE MAPS WITH METAL FIXING CLIPS ON REAR , 1 SET TWO PLATES . COLD WAR RAF JET PILOT INTERCEPTION MAPS THIS AUCTION IS FOR THE 1 MAP SETS ONLY AS FIRST PICTURE, these maps are sealed so other map areas are also shown to demonstrate. NO PLOTTER IS SUPPLIED , PLOTTER PICTURES SHOWN FOR ILLUSTRATION ONLY brief- Pilots would use a 'knee-board’ map system to plot a course for interception of the enemy aircraft. The post war 'Jet Age' meant interception of aircraft required more accurate long range plotting. These would have been used in period ac such as  the Javelin, Hunter & early Lightning’s. Sector radio controllers would have given out coordinates and heading of the bogey. The scales on the maps would have been used to help mentally calculate speed and heading to effect interception coordinates  All items are 1958 - 1959 still stores sealed UNOPENED  , some age related effect / wear is to be expected, items have not been used. 1 X SEALED MAP /  UN-ISSUED PERIOD OLD STOCK ITEMS PICTURES SHOW THE MAP PLATES AND THE PLOTTER THIS AUCTION IS FOR THE 1 pair MAP SET ONLY ALL SHIPPING COSTS INCLUDE FULL INSURANCE
