The World War II Hamilcar glider was designed to carry heavy cargo, including Tetrarch or M22 Locust light tanks. It was developed at the request of Sir Winston Churchill It had a Crew of 2, with a load Capacity of 7 tons
It was a very large glider 68 ft (20.73 m) used in the landings at D-Day in June 1944
