HMS Puncher (D79) / USS Willapa (AVG-53/ACV-53/CVE-53) was a WW2 era Bogue class / Ruler class escort aircraft carrier . Lend-leased to the United Kingdom from the US Navy , transferred to the Royal Navy and commissioned as HMS PUNCHER. in the Atlantic and Mediterranean for the duration of hostilities. Stationed with the Home Fleet at Scapa Flow. Fleet Air Arm squadrons assigned to Puncher included Fairey Barracuda torpedo bombers, Fairey Firefly fighter/bombers,US Hellcat (Wildcat) fighters and Avenger torpedo bombers.
