Antique Old Sheffield Plate Wire Work Rectangular Footed Cake Basket circa 1820
Fine wire work old Sheffield plate cake basket circa 1820. The basket is rectangular on a collar foot. The sides are wire work; the rim and handle are edged with beading. There is a place for a monogram on the handle, but there is no monogram or removal. The handle swings up and down, and is shown in both positions. This is true old rolled and fused sheffield plate. There is no maker's mark but the Roman numeral IIIIV engraved into the base.
The basket measures 10 1/2 inches long by 8 1/4 inches wide by 10 1/2 inches tall with the handle up. It weighs 1 lb 10 oz (shipping weight 3 lbs).
Condition: Very good; no breaks in the wirework or plate. Minor interior wear. Please see the detailed photos below.

Our US shipping policy goes like this:
USPS First Class Mail for small packages that weigh less than 12 oz.
USPS Priority Mail for lightweight orders that fit in a box 12" square and under.
USPS Parcel post or UPS Ground for heaver and larger items that weigh more than a pound or fit in a box 14" square and over.
Paintings, prints and other large pieces are shipped using the best carrier on a case by case basis.
We will always combine shipping wherever possible.
Return Policy: Satisfaction guaranteed or you may return any item for a full refund. Return must be initiated within 7 days of receipt of package.
Foreign buyers, please confirm your local address and country information at the close of auction, and please include your local phone number. U.S. Customs now requires a phone number for ALL packages shipped outside the U.S. Foreign shipping is by USPS First Class International or Priority Mail international, depending on size and weight.
