Wedgwood Blue Transfer 10 Inch Plate California Pattern circa 1860
Offered for sale is this handsome blue transfer decorated plate by Wedgwood. The plate is heavy 12 sided ironstone with a pearlware glaze. The plate has Wedgwood marks on the reverse with the pattern name "California". The California pattern was first issued by Podmore, Walker & Co in 1849, then was taken over by Wedgwood in 1860. Don't ask me why Staffordshire potters thought California looked like Venice.
The plate is 9 7/8 inches wide. It weighs 1 lb 6 oz (shipping weight 1 lb).
Condition: The piece is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. It does have some stilt marks on the front, as typical for pottery of this age. Please see the detail photos below.

Our US shipping policy goes like this:
USPS First Class Mail for small packages that weigh less than 12 oz.
USPS Priority Mail for lightweight orders that fit in a box 12" square and under.
USPS Parcel post or UPS Ground for heaver and larger items that weigh more than a pound or fit in a box 14" square and over.
Paintings, prints and other large pieces are shipped using the best carrier on a case by case basis.
We will always combine shipping wherever possible.
