LASZLO WILLINGER ~ APRIL 6, 1909 - AUGUST 8, 1989 Laszlo Willinger was born in Budapest, Hungary & established photographic studios in Paris, Berlin & Hollywood, California. Willinger was most noted for his portrait photography of movie stars & celebrities during the Golden Era of the 1930s-1950s. He became a frequent contributor to magazines & periodicals with cover portraits of some of the most popular stars such as Marlene Dietrich, Clark Gable, Lucille Ball & Marilyn Monroe. Willinger was one of the first Hollywood photographers to experiment in the use of color in photos & lithographs. VINTAGE Calendar Top Hangers AKA Metal Hangers are made from tin and factory attached. MARILYN MONROE CALENDAR HISTORY In 1946 Norma Jean began using the stage name Marilyn Monroe, but did not legally change her name until February 23, 1956. During the 1940s MM was modeling & posing for pinup calendars as well as magazine covers. The 1947 calendar entitled The Right Number is one of her first pinup calendar appearances. This calendar pre-dates the famous Tom Kelly session. On May 27, 1949 MM posed for the calendar photograph that would one day make her a household name. Kelley produced 24 transparencies of two basic poses of MM lying nude on red velvet titled 'A New Wrinkle' & MM seated nude on red velvet titled 'Golden Dreams'. Golden Dreams became the most popular of the two appearing on calendars, decks of cards, key chains, coasters, glasses & a host of other pinup collectibles. In December of 1953 'Golden Dreams' was used to launch the premiere issue of Hugh Hefner's Playboy magazine. IMPORTANT: The first 1952 'Golden Dreams' calendars never had her name on them. The Golden Dreams calendars were produced throughout the 1950s & early 1960s AND they all have Marilyn Monroe's name on them.
