~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chuck Sabatino was born in 1935 and began his art studies at the New York School of Visual Arts majoring in advertising. He spent the next twenty-five years as an Art Director/TV Producer in Manhattan.
Chuck retired to Scottsdale, AZ and began painting full time. Known as a painter of light and shadow in a realistic manner he naturally started painting things he likes best: Pueblo Indian pottery and artifacts. Chuck Sabatino is a collector of these pots from various tribes such as the Zuni, Shoshone and Anasazi. Chuck spends many hours in museums, galleries and with collectors in Arizona and New Mexico to find interesting and different pottery for his paintings.
Painting with oil paint and glazes, a technique known as chiaroscuro, Sabatino pays closes attention to accuracy and detail. His respect for each design is immediately apparent. A richness unfolds that empowers the paintings and brings his subjects into a tangible reality. The results are both powerful and inert. |
