Zane Mead

A third generation Arizonan, Zane Mead is a real living, breathing, working cowboy - and he is also a skilled artist. Self taught, he works in pencil, oil and watercolor, attempting to capture the small rancher's life before it disappears. While growing up on his family's ranch, he would paint and sketch every moment he had. His love for the arts and ranching grew as he made his way through school and it became his passion to demonstrate the authentic ranching way of life. Zane considers it his mission to record the various activities of ranch life before it is all gone. Growing up on a ranch, Zane attended a two-room schoolhouse in what he calls "the ranching heartland of Arizona." Zane was expected to be a helping hand and he learned to take great pride in that life. He is heavily involved with the Arizona Cattle Ranchers and the Arizona Cowpunchers, trying to help with the art auctions fundraising effort for litigation in Washington, D.C., to help preserve and leave a legacy for future generations.
