MIKE DESATNICK
Mike Desatnick was born in the steel mill community of Hammond, Indiana. He worked in the mills after high school, then did a stint with the Army in Vietnam and returned with the desire to do something different with his life. After attending the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Illinois, he worked as an instructor at the school. He also spent two years working as an art illustrator for Hallmark. The artist has a special gift for capturing the people and ways of an area, or a country, and transferring their personality to canvas. He has traveled to Mexico, Europe and China, searching out the people and their way of life and painting them. Desatnick was the poster artist for the first living Western artists exhibit in Beijing, China. He has been featured in many art magazines and has won numerous awards. He regards his art as interpretations of human experience.
