HILL, SHEILA
American Indian Artist, Shelia Hill, has studied the customs of Indian tribes throughout the United States. She has lived in many places, including Washington, New Mexico, Utah, Oklahoma and Alaska. She has absorbed much from the Native American cultures she has encountered and it is reflected in her art. Shelia worked as a commercial artist for several years following her graduation from the University of New Mexico. In 1978, while working as an exhibit designer for the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Albuquerque, she began to experiment with pastel drawing. It marked the beginning of a fine art career. She has been featured in art shows across the country and has won many awards. Art critics and the public alike are drawn to her quiet, peaceful and captivating style of drawing.
