Extraordinary large sized vintage Paisley, Kashmir shawl from the late 1800s.

 

The Paisley designs are intricate and attractive.

 

These antique cloths where used to wear over the shoulders to keep the women, in the National Dutch traditional clothing, warm. It was not possible to wear a normal coat over these costumes.

 

The difference in sizes was because children as well as adults had to be able to wear them.

These cloths, I have are all hand woven, usually at home.

So if you see any cloths who are just one sided those are not the Antiques Dutch Paisleys.

The pictures might confuse you a little. It looks like I am showing two different shawls.
This is NOT the case.
The shawls have opposite colors on each side that is why it looks so different.
Don't be fooled by copies of original two sided Paisley shawls.

These larger Paisley shawls, are great to hang on the wall.

The Real authentic Dutch ones are double woven this is why the colors are reversed on each side. 

It has the most luxurious drape and gorgeous fall colors of any that we've seen recently.

This one has a double heart what makes it very special.  

 

 

The condition of the shawl is is amazing keeping in view its age.

I found one small loose treat but that was all.

But don't expect to recieve a new shawl This is a genuine hand woven antiques cloth.

 

This extremely large paisley shawl measuring 44" long excluding the fringes at both ends x 50" wide.

 

Each piece was exquisitely woven with wonderful tiny complicated patterns.

The colors used were primarily vegetable dyes in brilliant red, black, teal blue, sienna, ochre, and cream with many other colors sprinkled into the mix, peach, purple, green, rose, blue among them.

If it is held up to daylight, some light passes through this is absolutely normal.

Like in most antique stores I can sometimes go to about 10% in giving discounts on items that linger longer on Ebay.

My position as dealer is very compatible I have to keep my prices low as possible. There is not that much room for negotiation.

I list hundreds of items every month. Most of them sell pretty quick usually within a 3 month period. But, I don't know if it will sell.
