Very large Dutch, Kashmir Paisley Shawl Antique traditional Folklore.
These
antique hand woven cloths where used to wear over the shoulders to keep
the women, in the National Dutch traditional clothing, warm. (See attached pictures)
The difference in sizes was because children as well as adults had to be able to wear them.
This is a Very Large, made circa 1860s to 1880s, Dutch Kashmir Paisley Shawl for an adult woman.
REAL Dutch Antique woven shawls show the famous Paisley pattern and are double woven.
This large shawl measures approximately 56" x 61” or 140 x 165 cm without measuring the fringes.
This Dutch Kashmir Paisley Shawl is of unusual, quality, and pattern.
It has a very colorful boarding on 2 sides as shown in the pictures.
It was made of wool.
It's barely faded if at all and has a More than wonderful color combination.
The antique paisley cloths are double woven, so the back shows the opposite colors from the front.
This Shawl is fully usable and wearable as intended, or just incredible for interior design.
It is large enough to cover a larger table or sofa.
This beautiful Kashmir paisley cloth gives the illusion of depth through perspective.
It has been woven in the centuries old traditional weaving centers in Europe.
The condition is very good except for one of the sides that shows some wear and tear.
There is a rib of about 10" long on one of the sides. Someone has tried to repair this but was not successful.
The paisley is so extremely large and it is on the larger side, that it would be easy to cut of a small border.
Also a small lighter spot and a dark stripe of about 1.5" I have shown this in picture 7.
