These six magnificent Framed

DELFT BLUE TILES

are in great condition.

Dark oak frame holding 6 Delft blue tiles. 

These machine made but hand painted, porcelain tiles have been glued to the back.

It is very well closed and I do not want to break them.

The tiles where new when they where mounted in the frame.

They are in excellent condition

Tiles and frame are from around the 1950s

19 inches high and13.5 inches wide.

Buying Delft blue tiles.

Tiles have been made for over a thousand years and there is an enormous difference in quality.

 

Ask yourself:  

What factory made the tile? Who has painted this tile? How old is the tile? How thick is it? Where was it made? Made of Porcelain or clay? What clay did they use? How much sand is there in the tile? Chips cracks. Has it been used and what for? How is the backing?

Cracks and chips etc, will affect the value however a tile that is 100 years or older and is missing corners and is chipped can fetch hundreds sometimes thousands of dollars because of rarity.

Some tiles where, and are still, hand made most are machine made. Some are hand painted most are transfers. Transfers can be hand laid or machine made.

When hand painted, usually tiles where painted by student painters, some of those where excellent. The painters did not sign the tiles. You have to look at the quality of the painting to determine the quality of the painting.  

Buy tiles from a respectable dealer, who knows this stuff. The quality and rarity will reflect value.

Like in most antique stores I can sometimes go to about 10% in giving discounts on items that linger longer on Ebay.

My position as dealer is very compatible I have to keep my prices low as possible. There is not that much room for negotiation.

I list hundreds of items every month. Most of them sell pretty quick usually within a 3 month period. But, I don't know if it will sell.

I often have the “make offer” button placed in the listings, so I do not have to go back every time a listing lingers longer on eBay than usual. It simply is too much work to have to reverse those items.
