2nd MICHIGAN CAVALRY FLAG
'In Honor Of General Sheridan 1868'

This Item was purchased from a Gentleman in 2005
from Rome, Georgia. It had been found packed away
in an attic in Ohio years before. No other History~

This 2nd Michigan Cavalry Flag is marked as being
presented 'In Honor Of General Sheridan 1868'. The
Flag is Beautifully Framed to be preserved for many
years to come.
This 'Swallow-Tail' Flag is completely hand-sewn.
The Material is thin cotton bunting, and, as you can
see has some tears & soiling. There is some kind of
stain in the lower left-hand corner.
This is a Beautiful & Extremely Unique Flag.

In 1868 Gen.PhilipH.Sheridan, along with Gen.G.A.Custer
& the 7thCavalry were preparing for their 1st Winter Campaign
against the Plains Indians. They were in Fts.Leavenworth&Dodge
in Kansas, as well as establishing Camp Supply in the Indian
Territory of Oklahoma.
In November of 1868 Custer & the 7th Cavalry attacked Black Kettle
while they were encamped along the Washita River.
